What is camp? Listen Harrison Burton All For The Cup 2024 Nascar Cup Series Playoffs T-Shirt . if you haven’t figured it out by now maybe you never will! Over the past two months, one trillion lists and listicles have been written on camp, stabbing at the idea of artifice and style and exaggeration. Andrew Bolton, the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Wendy Yu Curator in Charge of the Costume Institute and the effective arbiter of all things campy, sees these many definitions as the epitome of camp itself.

“I think one of the defining elements of camp are the lists that people keep providing,” he says Harrison Burton All For The Cup 2024 Nascar Cup Series Playoffs T-Shirt . “The endless list is, finally, the definite mark of camp.”In the exhibition “Camp: Notes on Fashion,” which opens in the museum’s Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Exhibition Hall on May 9, Bolton provides his own definitions for camp. He starts with a bit of history in the show’s first galleries, which he describes as “kind of serious, apart from the bright pink walls.” Here, the etymological history of the word camp is explored through historic objects, fashion, and art. Camp as a verb is the first usage, in Molière’s 1671 play The Adventures of Scapin—an original copy of the play is displayed in a glass vitrine with a tiny figure of Scapin. Alongside fashion from Erdem’s Spring 2019 collection, you can read about camp as an adjective used in the 19th century as a code for homosexuality. Later, Oscar Wilde appears beside definitions of camp as a noun. Then Christopher Isherwood’s writings on high and low camp, and finally viewers will walk into a checklist-like square gallery where some of the 58 bullets from Susan Sontag’s 1964 essay “Notes on ‘Camp’ ” are illustrated with items from the museum’s collection. If this sounds deadly serious and, like, totally not camp—pay closer attention to the details.“To be honest, English is not my first language, so initially I had no idea what Camp meant. I thought we were going camping!” admits the Argentine-born de Betak. Once she researched the concept, she fully committed.

Love these shirts, so comfortable!
Some of the reviews complain these aren’t heavy like advertised, and I agree they aren’t particularly heavy. I’d say they’re average weight. But they are exactly what I was looking for and I am very pleased. I purchased the maroon. I’d say they run a tad small. I’m a 150lb women and was looking for a loose fit and had trouble deciding between ordering the medium or large. I went with the large and I’m glad I did. I want to order more colors. I only wish I could order a single one or that they had more varied color combinations.

So, I’ve been dropping some poundage and needed an athletic shirt to sit as a stand in for a cycling jersey. I didn’t want to spend money on a cycling jersey, only to not be able to wear it in a few months. This shirt was a great decision. I’ve never worn athletic shirts before, so I wasn’t sure what to expect or how effective it would be.
First, the shirt is incredibly comfortable. On a 2.5 hour ride, it never chaffed or rubbed the wrong way. I purchased it in white, so it did a great job at reflecting the sunlight and keeping me cool. I was also pretty impressed at how quickly the shirt dried (and I sweat A LOT). Within about 20 minutes of me finishing my ride, the shirt was pretty dry.
But overall, really worth the money.

I ordered three of these shirts to wear for my armed security job where I have to wear a Kevlar vest under my uniform all day. I’m a big guy and had to get 5xl and they fit as advertised and I was pleasantly surprised. Wearing the shirts under my body armor all day has kept me cool and dry. While wearing normal cotton tee shirts I was miserable, but this type of shirts are awesome for that type of use. Hence the name I suppose.
