The “blind” ones tend to have the most shallow faith, with little experienced evidence and lack real peace and joy in their lives. Your premise is flawed: Christians do NOT depend on “blind faith.” And a scientist does not operate out of the bounds of faith in at least some basic tenets such as whether the testing equipment is functioning correctly. There is always an element of faith in anything we do that traces back to the experience and reliability of a person or system we trust. Jesus did not ask his followers to blindly follow him. God did not ask the Israelites to blindly follow him. YOU do not ask your children to blindly follow you.
